The
department of anatomy is one of the basic science departments
at the Ponce School of Medicine. Our department offers outstanding
training and research opportunities in the anatomical sciences
for medical students and graduate students. Our department and
faculty has been recognized by first year medical students as
the best basic science department for years 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Four
faculty members hold primary appointments in the department and
another five hold joint or adjust appointments; one additional
primary faculty member will join the department later in 2000.
Our
goals are to:
- deliver a superb
educational experience for medical and graduate students
- provide outstanding
training environment for graduate students
- develop and sustain
a prominent research program
The
department has outstanding facilities for educational and research.
The quality of the faculty and department resources provide an
ideal environment for medical and research training. Particular
attention is paid to the professional development of our graduates
to prepare them for carees in teaching, research or industry.Graduates
of the program have continued their education in medical and graduate
