Benefits

Residents are employees of The Department
of Health of Puerto Rico with the following benefits:
- $2,527 monthly salary during the
first year of training
- $2,577 during the second year
- $2,675 during the third year
- $2,775 during the fourth year
- Christmas Bonus
- $150 monthly compensation towards
the purchase of medical insurance for the resident with
an option for additional coverage for his/her family.
The resident may choose from any of the medical
insurance
- Breakfast and lunch meals while
on call in the hospital. Other meals are provided at a
special cost.
- Immunity in the event of a
medical liability claim as established in Article 41.050
in the Insurance Code of PR 26 LPRA 4105.
- The Fondo de Seguro del Estado
provides employment disability insurance.
- Life Insurance Benefits
- Maternal and Paternal leave
- Modern sleeping and lounge
facilities as well as meals when on duty in the
hospital.
