| The Community-Based
Education Division is an institutional, collaborative effort between
the primary care disciplines (Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Internal
Medicine) developed to administer and provide quality clinical education
and service experiences that can effectively and efficiently result
in primary care oriented and community-responsive physicians. |

Division's Objectives |
The Community Based Education Division has the following
specific objectives:
- Provide the administrative
support and organization of Community-Based Resources for the
primary care departments throughout the Medical Curriculum Program.
- Develop a Community Medicine
Program throughout the four-year curriculum.
- Establish liaisons or partnerships
with community-based primary care physicians and clinical practice
organizations that will serve as a resource for clinical experiences
throughout the medical curriculum.
- Develop and coordinate community
service experiences for medical students with underserved and
high-risk populations.
- Establish a Community Preceptor Computer Network to improve
the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of community-based
resources and curricular offerings and to provide support intercommunication
and other services to community preceptors.
