Family
Medicine is the medical discipline concerned with the continuing
and comprehensive care of individuals and their families.
It's
the medical specialty that devotes itself to caring about patients
(and not just their diseases). |
Mission and goals: |
| Our mission is teach
medical students the tenets of Family Medicine and to assure that
they acquire the competencies appropriate to their level of training;
to prepare interested students to pursue careers in family medicine
and primary care; to create a supportive atmosphere to meet the
needs of the medical student body; to pursue and promote scholarly
work among our trainees and faculty members; to train bilingual
students to become physicians that will practice in Puerto Rico,
and in the Continental United States; and to foster collaboration
with other departments. |
