Research Interests and Current Projects

To elucidate the mechanisms of alcohol-induced hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases in a rodent model using pharmacological and genetic tools and to develop preventive strategies such as physical conditioning and antioxidant supplementation.

To study the mechanisms of micro and macro vascular abnormalities in diabetic animal model and to develop novel treatment modalities.

To investigate the role of cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking in the progression and development of UV radiation-induced skin cancer in athymic nude mouse model and to develop therapeutically effective drugs.

To study the role of central and peripheral auditory mechanisms of age-related and platinum drug-induced hearing loss in a rat model and to develop preventive measures.

Current Project: Alcohol-induced hypertension: mechanisms and prevention funded by NIH RCMI.
