Ponce
School of Medicine has established and organized its ambulatory
clinics in compliance with the AAMC guidelines and
recommendations. The Ambulatory Clinics are an important support
to the PSM medical education program as they provide a forum for
medical students to work up Clinics patients under physician
supervision.
Another objective in
establishing the Clinics in the year 2001 has been to offer a good
variety of services to facilitate patients to find a broad range
of evaluation and treatment all “under the same roof”. In
moving toward that goal we now offer liver disease diagnosis and
treatment as well as liver transplant work up and Perinatology
(potentially difficult pregnancies).
We are also in the process
of hiring an obstetrician, a general surgeon and look forward to
hiring a full time clinical Pediatrician soon. These services will
complement our existing specialties services of Pneumology (lung
ailments), Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology/Hematology (cancer
evaluation and treatment), Rheumatology, both Adult and Pediatric
Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology (intestinal ailments diagnosis and
treatment), Gynecology, both adult and Child Psychiatry and
Psychology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric
Nephrology, Pediatric Oncology/Hematology, Family and Geriatric
Medicine.
The Ambulatory Clinics
accept most health plans and are in the process to accept others
plants. The Clinics have available parking.
