Overview of the PRCTRC

Mission, Vision and Goals of the PRCTRC

The Puerto Rico Clinical & Translational Research Consortium will be a key element in the efforts to understand, define, and address health disparities in our population.

The mission of the Puerto Rico Clinical & Translational Research Consortium is to create, develop, and support an integrated island-wide infrastructure and program dedicated to the conduct of clinical and translational research focused on health problems prevalent in a Hispanic population.

  1. Enhance and integrate existing infrastructure for clinical and translational research across Puerto Rico to support and expand Clinical and Translational Research in health disparities;

  2. Enhance and support existing training and mentoring programs to increase the number of new minority investigators in Clinical and Translational Research;

  3. Facilitate the translation of knowledge from the bench into the community by establishing a centralized program;

  4. And encourage collaborations among basic, clinical, and social scientists and community networks and health programs.
