Doctoral Program(DrPH) in Epidemiology

 

General Information

The purpose of the DrPH in Epidemiology is to train professionals with knowledge, skills and abilities in the development of epidemiological methodology applied to health needs including the identification of risk factors, clinical research, programs assessment, prevention, protection and treatment of diseases.

Cost per credit is $308.00 residents and $350.00 non-residents. Other annual fees apply.

 

Curriculum

The Doctor of Epidemiology Degree (DrPH) is awarded after the successful completion of an interdisciplinary 81-credits core curriculum in Epidemiology, which includes Biostatistics, Environmental, Nutrition, Methodology, Research and electives in special topics. Students must also complete an original research project of a significant contribution to the scientific knowledge in a particular field.

 

Admission Requirements

The applicant must:

  • BS / BA: Present evidence of the successful completion of a bachelor degree in a college level institution accredited by the PR Council of Higher Education or by a US recognized accrediting organization.

  • Have completed the following required courses:

  • GPA – 3.00 is requested for applying, (on a four-point scale)

  • GRE test - no more than 5 years prior to admission. Only the general part will be requested.

  • Submit the following documents:

    • Official transcript from all universities attended (undergraduate & graduate).

    • Three letters of recommendation

      • Two of the letters of recommendation should provide input from people in responsible position who can comment on your academic, employment or volunteer performance, character and interest. For undergraduate this often means professors, academic advisors or employer.

      • The third letter must be of someone who is able to asses your advocacy experience. All of them should be written using the format accompanying the application form.

    • GRE official score www.ets.org/gre - no more than 5 years earlier

    • Certificate of No Penal Record (Criminal Background Check)

    • Application fee non-refundable $100 (USD) non-refundable

    • Curriculum Vitae

Upon acceptance, all students are required to submit the following:

  • Written confirmation of acceptance and a deposit of $100.00 to secure your seat in the entering class. It may be refundable up to April 15.

  • Physical Exam

  • Evidence of up to date immunization certificate, including Hepatitis B.

  • Other documents will be notified as pertinent
