We are pleased to inform you about the “2012-2013 Introduction to
the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR)”, a course
established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The IPPCR
course will be offered through a collaborative effort between the
UPR-Medical Sciences Campus and the Puerto Rico Clinical &
Translational Research Consortium (PRCTRC), which has been sponsored
by the NIH since 1999. The course is provided via video conference
utilizing the Adobe Connect services provided by the NIH. The
program focuses on topics aiming to train researchers in the areas
of study design for clinical trials, statistical analysis, ethical
issues, legal and regulatory considerations (such as those
implemented by the Food and Drug Administration), and the
preparation, monitoring, and quality assurance of clinical studies
among others.
This year the course will be offered from October 16, 2012 through
March 26, 2013, during Monday and Tuesday of every week from
6:00-7:30 pm eastern time (daylight saving time will be taken into
consideration). The course will be offered free of charge in an
effort to strengthen and promote clinical and translational research
throughout our clinical medicine programs and comply with the
training requirements for accreditation. In addition, we believe
that the course is a great opportunity that the clinic personnel
could benefit from.
