NIH-NIGMS-MBRS S06 GM 08239 Appleyard (PI; Torres PD) 06/01/01 - 05/31/05 Involvement of TNF in Intestinal Inflammation in a Reactivated Model of Colitis. Major goals: To measure the levels of TNF alpha following colitis induction and correlate with intestinal inflammation and secretion. Investigate the effects of inhibition of TNF alpha on the above parameters. Role: PI NIH-NIGMS-MBRS S06 GM 08239 Flores (PI; Torres PD) 06/01/02-05/31/05 Differentiation of TNF pathways in Intestinal Endometriosis and Crohn's Disease Major goals: The long term goal of this project is to develop a non-invasive diagnostic test that will differentiate between intestinal endometriosis and inflammatory bowel disease. The differential activation of TNF receptors and the associated signaling molecules in acute inflammation will be determined. Role: Co-Investigator NIH-NCRR/RCMI 2G12 RR03050 Appleyard (PI; Yamamura PD) 09/30/03 - 06/30/08 Role of Bacterial Peptides in Chronic Intestinal Inflammation Major goals: To determine whether the bacterial peptide fMLP can exacerbate intestinal inflammation in the acute and chronic phase of colitis by altering the secretory and motility responses of the intestine. Levels of inflammatory and proinflammatory cytokines will be measured. Role: PI |
