RCMI at PSM

The RCMI Program at the Ponce School of Medicine began in 1985; its first phase emphasized infrastructure development through faculty recruitment and the improvement of the library facility. In 1994, as the second phase of the RCMI Program was being implemented, the AIDS Research Infrastructure Program was developed in response to the rapidly worsening AIDS/HIV epidemic in Puerto Rico. Currently in its fourth phase of development, the PSM RCMI Program includes five core programs :

AIDS Research Infrastructure Program Core
Molecular Biology Laboratory Core
Epidemiology/ Biostatistics Core
Administration Core
Faculty Recruitment and Development Core

In addition, five pilot projects are being developed in research areas associated with Minority Health Disparities.
