Individual User Responsibilities
The Institution provides e-mail access for business usage. Every staff member or Student has the responsibility to maintain and enhance the Institution’s public image and to use its e-mail in a responsible and productive manner that reflects well on the Institution.
Unacceptable uses of Institution e-mail
The system(s) must not be used for illegal purposes, in support of illegal activities, or for any other activity prohibited by the Institution Policies.
The Institution’s e-mail should not be used for transmitting, retrieving, or storage of any communications of a discriminatory or harassing nature or materials that are obscene or “X-rated.” Harassment of any kind is prohibited. No messages with derogatory or inflammatory remarks about an individual’s race, age, disability, religion, national origin, physical attributes, or sexual preference shall be transmitted. Abusive, profane, or offensive language is not to be transmitted.
Electronic media cannot be used for any other purpose that is illegal or against institution policy or contrary to the institution’s best interests. Solicitation of non-institutional business, or any use of the institution e-mail or Internet for religious and political purposes as personal gain, is strictly prohibited.
REMINDER:
1. System users should not use another person's ID or account (username and
password).
2. System users shall maintain electronic information in
accordance with established guidelines.
3. System users should not upload programs to the PSM
electronic communication system(s)
without appropriate
authorization.
4. System users should not knowingly bring prohibited
materials into the PSM electronic
communication system(s).
Any employee or student who abuses the privilege of Institution-facilitated access to e-mail will be subject to disciplinary action as appropriate under the circumstance.
