On May 10th, PHP celebrated the 5th Scientific Meeting in the library Rafael Hernández Colón. In this Scientific Meeting, MPH students presented the activities carried out and competencies used in the course of Applied Practice Experience. The students Fabián A. Ramírez, Carla Camacho Velázquez, and James Torres were recognized due to the best delivery, language use, and organization in their oral presentation. The guest speaker was Dr. Adelfa E. Serrano, who presented “Malaria: Plasmodium biology and relevance of the glutathione pathway in parasite development”. In the faculty session, Dr. Brenda Soto presented an overview of her research project “Impact Me: Using MC1R genotype to impact skin cancer risk behaviors in Hispanic/Latinos”. Also, Dr. Robert Rodríguez presented his doctoral thesis “Guide of the mosquitoes, epidemiology and prevalence of arbovirus in southern municipalities of Puerto Rico, 2017-18”.
