Position Summary

The Ponce Research Institute (PRI) is seeking a highly qualified Director of the Office of Research Development (ORD) to provide leadership and oversight for the institution’s sponsored programs. The Director will manage the full lifecycle of research grants and contracts, ensure compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations, and work closely with faculty and staff to strengthen PRI’s research enterprise and secure external funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Oversight: Develop and execute strategies to support PRI’s research initiatives and align sponsored program activities with institutional goals.
  • Pre-Award & Post-Award Administration: Oversee the submission and management of grants, ensuring compliance with sponsor terms and institutional policies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the ORD team, fostering professional development and enhancing services to support research growth.
  • Collaboration & Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison between faculty, external funding agencies, and institutional partners.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to all research regulations, including human subjects, animal care, and intellectual property.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree required; advanced (beyond Bachelor’s) degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years in research administration or sponsored programs management, with proven success in securing federal and private funding.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, financial management, and team-building skills; proficiency in grant management systems (e.g., StreamLyne, eRA Commons), and excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification.
  • Experience in medical research or academic institutions.
