Acreditan programa de enfermería de Ponce Health Sciences University

El Programa de Bachillerato en Enfermería de Ponce Health Sciences University recibió la acreditación por la Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education por cinco años, el máximo de tiempo que se otorga a un programa nuevo.   “Cada vez más, vemos la necesidad de contar con profesionales en enfermería capacitados que puedan responder a la demanda que existe en la isla. Por eso esta aprobación llega en uno de los momentos más importantes para la salud en Puerto Rico”, expresó la Dra. Elizabeth Rivera-Mateo, Decana de Currículo y Asuntos Académicos de Ponce Health Sciences University.

“Estamos sumamente orgullosos del trabajo realizado desde que iniciamos el Programa de Bachillerato en Enfermería, siendo el primero a nivel subgraduado. Este programa se alinea perfectamente con nuestra misión institucional al preparar profesionales culturalmente competentes en las ciencias de la salud y que sirvan e impacten a las comunidades que representan”, indicó Rivera, quien añadió que, ser acreditados programáticamente es un indicador adicional de excelencia académica, “lo que valida nuestro compromiso como institución de ofrecer una educación de clase mundial, compitiendo en igualdad de condiciones con otras instituciones dentro y fuera de Puerto Rico”, puntualizó.

Ponce Health Sciences University Nursing Program receives accreditation

 

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at Ponce Health Sciences University received accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education for five years, the maximum time granted to a new program. “We see there is an increasing need for trained nursing professionals who can respond to the demand that exists on the island. That is why this approval comes at one of the most important moments for health in Puerto Rico,” said Dr. Elizabeth Rivera-Mateo, Dean of Curriculum and Academic Affairs at Ponce Health Sciences University.

“We are extremely proud of the work we have done since we started the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, being the first at the undergraduate level. This program aligns perfectly with our institutional mission to prepare culturally competent professionals in the health sciences who serve and impact the communities they represent,” said Rivera, who added that being programmatically accredited is an additional indicator of academic excellence, “which validates our commitment as an institution to offer a world-class education, competing on equal terms with other institutions within and outside Puerto Rico,” concluded.
